10 Tips to Shopping Online

1 - Be safe

Shopping online can be dreadful, giving personal information such as your credit card details and address could be threatening. Make sure you are going through a reliable source. Make use of trusted websites, the sites advertised on the side bars of facebook and google are usually not reliable.

2 - Secure
Make sure when making payment the site is secure.

3 - Fakes
Some sites in SA offer fake bags, make-up and more. Only a portion of these sites market their goods as AAAA-Grade replicas. So be careful when purchasing "brands". Some sites also purchase goods from China and sell them for ridiculous prices. (Please note: Some products from China are harmful for your skin and can cause serious consequences.)

So now that the serious information is done let's move on to the rest.

4 - Sizing
Shopping online can be a bit daunting cause you unsure of the sizes. Top tip: Measure yourself, this may seem weird but you need to know your body in cm. Most online sites come with a sizing guide so by cross referencing you can know exactly which garment will fit you.

5 - Reviews
I can't stress this enough, reviews are from real people writing real things to help you. Read reviews on the store you purchasing from (Google "store name reviews" or search hello peter) here you'll have access to how long shipping really takes and the overall quality and experience also read reviews on the site that you intend purchasing on, this helps you decide if the garment is good quality the sizes are accurate and if it is worth the purchase.

No, seriously the fun stuff is coming

6 - Connect
Sign up to emails and like their social pages (twitter, facebook, Instagram), you'll often be the first to hear about sales and offers you might even get a coupon or two.

7 - Search
Before I check out on any website I will do a quick search for any coupon codes just to make sure I am not missing out on anything.

8 - Sales
Take advantage of one-day sale sites such as onedayonly, takealot deals, runway sale. They usually have good deals for a limited time.

9 - Overseas Sites
Be aware of customs, you won't always need to pay customs on your purchases but it may hit you. The goods will be sent straight to your nearest post office and you'll have to pay a release fee to get your goods, this can amount to an extra 45% of the total price you paid for your goods. Another thing is the exchange rate, some sites have a real time conversion so checking the trend on where the dollar (or whatever currency) is on its way up or down could save you loads of money.

10 - Impulse
I often put things in my cart just because it's so easy to do so. Then I think: "if I were in the shop would I purchase this". So what I do is, leave it there for a day and when I come back and revise my purchase. This way I won't buy things I don't really want or need.
